WS1 Knowledge Discovery and Similarity co-chairs: Kerstin Bach, Miltos Petridis

extended submission deadline: June 22, 2008
The workshop on "Knowledge Discovery and Similarity in Case Based Reasoning" addresses various techniques utilized for building and maintaining CBR-based systems e.g. data mining, machine learning, and knowledge discovery. The focus is on application-oriented approaches like reuse of knowledge, automated extraction of knowledge sources (from the WWW, from semi-structured documents, etc.), adaptation of knowledge vocabulary, multilingual textual or mixed content types CBR approaches, maintenance of adaptation knowledge, or usage of feedback.

WS2 Case-Based Reasoning and Context-Awareness co-chairs: Jan-Oliver Deutsch, Jens Mänz, Sven Schwarz, Jörg Cassens

extended submission deadline: June 23, 2008
CBR in general, and knowledge intensive CBR in particular, appears to be a promising candidate for reasoning about situations and behavior in an ambient intelligent setting enabling context awareness statically (by domain-specific vocabulary and similarity models) as well as dynamically (by memorizing new cases and thereby improving its ability to adapt to new situations). The workshop on "Case-Based Reasoning and Context-Awareness" addresses interdisciplinary contributions from the area CBR and Context Awareness for Ambient Intelligence from a technical or human-directed viewpoint.

WS3 Uncertainty and Knowledge Discovery co-chairs: Eyke Hüllermeier, Michael Richter, Rosina Weber

submission deadline: June 22, 2008
CBR applications must deal with with uncertain, incomplete, and vague information. The organizers of the workshop on "Uncertainty and Knowledge Discovery in CBR" encourage contributions on advancements in reasoning under uncertainty, knowledge discovery, and soft computing. This includes (but is not limited to) Bayesian methods, fuzzy sets, possibility theory, evidence theory, similarity assessment and adaptation, or instance-based and case-based learning

WS4 CBR in the Health Sciences co-chairs: Isabelle Bichindaritz, Stefania Montani

extended submission deadline: June 22, 2008
For the application of CBR to the medicine domain, the workshop on "CBR in the Health Sciences" provides a forum for identifying important contributions and opportunities for research on the application of CBR to health sciences, promoting the systematic study of how to apply CBR in this area, and discussing about showcase applications. Topics of interest are, beside others, integration of CBR in health care environments, CBR in medical decision-support systems, CBR in medical imaging, or CBR in bioinformatics.

WS5 Computer Cooking Contest Workshop co-chairs: Ralph Traphöner, Mirjam Minor, Armin Stahl

submission deadline: June 2, 2008, only in conjunction with a running CCC system
The Computer Cooking Contest (CCC) workshop is part of the cookery contest. It is for the presentation and discussion of the technical descriptions of the finalists. Paper submissions are to be made only by teams participating at the CCC qualifying examination with a running software. The workshop is open for the whole ECCBR audience.
